The Leonberger Club of the Northwest has roots going back to the founding of the LCA in 1985. Whether you were there back then, came on board later, or especially if you have never been to a Leo event before, we hope you will make a point to come experience some "Old School" fun! WHAT IS A CLUB SHOW?
A Club Show is an event sanctioned by the LCA, but not the AKC, which means there are no championship points awarded for winning. However, the judge is certified by the LCA as an expert in the breed, and dictates a written critique which competitors get to take home with them. These critiques are useful for helping to understand how your Leo compares to the breed standard from the point of view of someone with a thorough understanding of Leo type.
WHO CAN SHOW IN A CLUB SHOW? EVERYONE!
We pattern our Club-Show after the shows in Germany, where they call their Leos in from the fields, give them a quick brushing, and then go show them. No coats, ties, fancy pants, fancy dresses, grooming tables, blow dryers, or snooty attitudes allowed. The point is for everyone to be together with their Leos, and to have fun.
SPECIAL CLUB SHOW PRIZES
In honor of the casual German tradition, special prizes will be awarded for: (1.) Most casually dressed exhibitor, and (2.) Happiest handler/Leo combo.
