Recipes for Treats Your Leo Will Love

Sunshine Liver Brownies

Ingredient list

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Cover cookie sheet with foil and coat with cooking spray.
  3. Sprinkle foil lightly with corn meal and set aside.
  4. Process liver and garlic in food processor or blender until it looks like milk chocolate.
  5. Pour into large mixing bowl and blend in the rest of the ingredients.
  6. Spread evenly onto cookie sheet (the mixture will be thick) and sprinkle lightly with corn meal.
  7. Bake until no pink is left. I usually bake them for about 30 min for one pan and then turn the oven off but leave the brownies inside until they are cool.

Note: the baking of these has a high stink factor, so they are best made with an outside door open!

Tuna Brownies

  1. Mix all together in a large bowl to form a large ball.
  2. Place on a cookie sheet.
  3. Press to 1/4 inch thick
  4. Cook at 350 for 20-25 minutes
  5. Cut into squares of whatever size you want (a pizza wheel works well for cutting)

Chef Louie’s Itty Bitty Leonberger Bits

by Jim Henshaw

Ingredient list
Directions
  1. Pre-heat oven to 327 degrees
  2. Put thawed tripe (I thawed mine in the sink until there were 4 Leonbergers attempting to join it) and liver into blender and blend until smooth.
  3. Shoo dogs away while you get eggs and cheese from fridge.
  4. Fight your way back to blender that is now totally surrounded by enthralled Leos and add eggs and cheese. (Some add the shells but I don’t).
  5. Get dogs out of wastebasket as they were trying to get liver wrapper. Take out garbage.
  6. Remove dog’s nose from blender (it was off). Dog drool has now made the ingredients list.
  7. Contemplate sending dogs out but they won’t budge.
  8. Add rest of ingredients except flour.
  9. Dump stuff from blender into large mixing bowl, note a sudden gale has arisen from 4 wildly anticipatory dog’s tails. The cats have now joined the party.
  10. Mix in enough flour to make a slightly sticky glob. Dogs will happily clean hands.
  11. Put goo into cooky press or pastry bag with a filler tip (just a round hole) a sausage stuffer would also work.
  12. Make a ribbon on a greased cookie pan.
  13. Put into oven for 10 - 12 minutes (time depends on thickness of ribbon). They will have a crust on outside, chewy inside.
  14. Remove from oven being careful not to burn the, "I wanna help too," dog’s noses.
  15. Cut into 1" pieces while still warm, scissors work well for this. Makes about a million pieces.
  16. Cool at a place at least as high as refrigerator top. Bag, freeze or refrigerate until ready to use. (My first batch disappeared under mysterious circumstances when I went to answer phone, after that dogs were trying to hit speed dial “call home” button on cell phone).
  17. Dogs will help by pre-washing utensils prior to placing into dishwasher.
Note: dogs may attempt to enter refrigerator, you may need to install a lock.
