A blustery, rain-soaked afternoon didn’t stop our Leonbergers—or their humans—from celebrating Founders’ Day at Marymoor Park! Members gathered beneath a sprawling evergreen, our shelter from wind, rain, and the occasional sideways gust.
The highlight of the day was hearing from Mary and Reiner Decher, who, together with other early enthusiasts, introduced the Leonberger to the U.S. and helped establish both the LCA and LCNW. Their stories kept everyone smiling despite the weather.
Junko provided cupcakes, cookies, and treats, while the dogs received overflowing goodie bags. After a group photo and soggy tail wags, the wind prompted us all to head back to our cars. The dogs, of course, thought the rain was fabulous—getting them into cars afterward was another story!
Despite the weather, it was a warm, memorable gathering—proof that great people and great dogs make any day a good one.
